Wind and Watertight (WWT) means the container keeps out wind and rain, the doors seal, and the floor has no holes. Cargo Worthy (CWO) meets survey standards for international freight and can be certified to sail. Both will show normal wear like surface rust or small dents. If you only need secure on-site storage, WWT is usually perfect. If you plan to ship internationally, choose CWO and arrange a CSC survey.
Often yes. Many WWT units can be repaired and inspected to reach cargo-worthy status, subject to a surveyor’s approval. Ask us before you buy so we can guide you based on local depot inventory and timelines.
A One-Trip container is a near-new unit that has made a single loaded voyage after manufacture. Expect clean interiors, minimal cosmetic marks, and long service life. One-Trip units are considered cargo-worthy.
Inventory on 48 ft and 53 ft domestic containers is limited and delivery can be complex. Our core sizes are 20 ft, 40 ft, and 40 ft High Cube. If you need 48 or 53, tell us your location and timeline and we will check availability with our terminals.
Local supply drives price. Forty-foot containers move most global freight and are more common, which can make them cheaper per square foot. In some markets you may see a 40 ft priced close to, or even below, a 20 ft.
Shipping lines do not circulate many 10 ft units. Most 10 ft options are custom cut-downs with new end frames and doors, which adds labour and material costs. That rarity is why the price can be higher.
In Canada and the United States, containers are equipment, not vehicles, so there is no vehicle “title” or registration for the box itself. The chassis or trailer that moves a container requires registration and insurance. For proof of ownership of the container, we provide your invoice and bill of sale.
Door issues usually come from site leveling or container twist. Place the unit on firm, level ground and shim under the corner blocks, especially at the door end, until the frame is square. Then lubricate hinges, cams, and keeper pockets and cycle the doors a few times. If you need guidance, contact us and we will walk you through a quick level check.
Depots load from stacks and release the next unit that meets your grade and size. Walk-throughs and unit-by-unit selection are typically not available. We set clear expectations on grade and condition and back every sale with our Reliable Quality Guarantee.
That is common after long periods with the doors closed. Open both doors for a few days to ventilate. If needed, place odor-absorbing products inside while airing out. The smell fades with circulation.
Prop the doors open for steady airflow. Odor neutralizers or absorbers can help. Most storage smells dissipate within a few days of ventilation, especially in dry weather.
