Yes. Plenty of people set up a bench, shelving and lighting inside a 20ft container and use it as a small workshop. Keep the doors open for air when you cut, sand or weld, and add vents if you will be working inside regularly.
A 20ft container fits a workbench, hand tools and shelving. Choose a 40ft if you have larger machines, a longer bench, or want to keep materials at one end and work at the other. Tell us what you plan to put inside and we will help you choose.
A cargo-worthy container keeps rain and snow out, but condensation can form when temperatures swing. Vents, a moisture absorber, keeping tools off the floor and a light coat of oil on bare steel all help. See our Quality Guarantee page for what each grade means.
For most workshops, yes. A used cargo-worthy container is wind and watertight and gives you the same steel box at the best value. A new one-trip container makes sense if you want the cleanest walls and floor for painting or lining the inside.
