Somewhere to Stay on Your Land Without a Full Build

Land is easier to enjoy when you have somewhere to stay on it. A tent works for a weekend, but it is damp and cold in the shoulder seasons, mice and bears find the food, and everything is packed out each time. A wood-framed cabin means hauling in lumber, finding builders and waiting out a season.

A container cabin starts as a small, strong steel shell that can be placed on rough land with little ground work. It is weatherproof, hard for animals and thieves to get into when locked, and sits on blocks or piers without a full foundation. A 20ft makes a compact weekend cabin, and a 40ft has room for bunks, a kitchen corner and gear storage.

You finish it as basic or as comfortable as you like, with a stove or heater, bunks, windows and a deck.

Recommended Containers for Container Cabins

Setting Up Your Container for a Cabin

  • Ground and placement: Choose high, dry ground away from drainage lines. Piers, concrete blocks or a gravel pad all work, as long as the container sits level and the doors swing freely.
  • Road and truck access: Our tilt-bed trucks need firm ground, enough width and turning room, and clear space overhead. Tell us about your trail, gate and any soft or seasonal sections when you request a quote and we will confirm whether delivery will work before you order.
  • Insulation and condensation: Insulate the walls and ceiling and add a moisture barrier before you finish the inside, with vents so air can move and frost does not build up.
  • Heating: A wood stove needs a non-combustible base, proper clearances and a certified chimney kit, so have a qualified installer fit it. A small propane or electric heater is another option.
  • Doors and windows: The container arrives with doors at one end. A window or side door is cut in by a welder or container builder, and shutters help protect glass when the cabin is empty.
  • Locking and wildlife: Use a heavy lock, keep food in sealed containers and store it out of reach of animals.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you deliver a container cabin to a remote property?

Often yes, but it depends on the access. Our tilt-bed trucks need firm ground, enough width to travel on, and room to turn and place the container. Tell us about your trail or road when you request a quote and we will confirm whether delivery will work before you order.

Is a container cabin warm enough for winter?

Once it is insulated and heated, yes. Plan insulation, a moisture barrier, ventilation and a heater or stove before you finish the inside, and a container can be a comfortable winter cabin.

What size container do I need for a cabin?

A 20ft container fits bunks, a small table and a heater, which suits most weekend cabins. A 40ft gives space for a kitchen corner, more beds and gear storage. Tell us how many people will use it and we will help you choose.

Should I buy a new or used container for a cabin?

For most cabins a used cargo-worthy container is the best value, since you will be lining the inside anyway. Choose a new one-trip container if you want the cleanest interior.

How long does delivery take?

Most deliveries arrive within 1–3 business days of your order, depending on inventory and site conditions. We confirm the timing when you request a quote.
