A Proper Office Where the Work Actually Is

A trailer on a job site, a rented unit at the yard or a desk in the corner of the shop only goes so far. Plans, laptops and paperwork get damp or stolen, the crew has nowhere to meet out of the weather, and the office has to be packed up or paid for again with every move.

A container office is a solid steel room that sits right where the work is. It arrives as a shell, so you decide the rest: insulation, windows and a door cut in, flooring, lighting, a desk and a meeting table. A 20ft suits a site supervisor or a small team, and a 40ft gives room for a meeting area, a lunch space and storage at one end.

It locks up at night and takes rough sites in stride, and when the job is done a truck can load it and take it to the next site.

Setting Up Your Container for an Office

  • Ground and placement: Set it on level gravel, concrete blocks or timber sleepers, close to the work but clear of traffic, with room to run power.
  • Road and truck access: Our tilt-bed trucks need a clear path, room to back up and space clear of wires and branches. Tell us about your site, gate and any ramps or tight turns when you request a quote and we will confirm delivery will work before you order.
  • Insulation and condensation: Steel sweats. Insulate the walls and ceiling and add a moisture barrier before you finish the inside, and keep some ventilation so air can move.
  • Doors and windows: The container arrives with doors at one end only. Windows and a side door are cut in by a welder or container builder, so plan the layout before you order.
  • Power, heat and internet: Have a qualified electrician run power. A small electric heater or mini-split handles most offices, and a cellular or satellite link can bring internet to a site with no line.
  • Security: Fit a quality lock, add bars or shutters to the windows, and keep laptops and plans out of sight when the office is empty.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can a shipping container be used as a site office?

Yes. A container is a strong, lockable room that can be insulated, fitted with windows and a door, and set up with power and a desk. Many contractors use one on site or at the yard as an office and meeting room.

What size container do I need for an office?

A 20ft container suits a supervisor or a small team. A 40ft gives room for a meeting area, a lunch space or storage at one end. Tell us how many people will use it and we will help you choose.

Can the office be moved to another site later?

A container is a self-contained steel unit that a truck can load and move, so the office can follow the work. Plan access at both ends and tell us if you expect to move it.

Do you cut in windows and doors?

The container arrives as a standard steel container with doors at one end. Cutting in windows or a side door is done by a welder or container builder you hire, so plan the layout before you order.

Should I buy a new or used container for an office?

For a site or yard office, a used cargo-worthy container is the best value, since you will be lining the inside anyway. Choose a new one-trip container for a client-facing office or a long-term setup.

How long does delivery take?

Most deliveries arrive within 1–3 business days of your order, depending on inventory and site conditions. We confirm the timing when you request a quote.
