Shipping container used for container pools

A Pool Without Months of Digging

A traditional in-ground pool means weeks of digging, a lot of concrete and a yard torn up for a season. Many families want somewhere to cool off without a project that big, especially on a smaller lot.

A container pool uses a shipping container as the pool shell. Its steel walls are strong and rigid, a 20ft gives you a plunge or small family pool, and a 40ft is long enough for a few laps. A container pool can sit above ground, partly sunk or fully buried, and the shell arrives as a single piece.

The container is only the shell. It has to be reinforced, lined and sealed for water, and fitted with a pump and filter, so most owners work with a pool builder who has built a container pool before.

Setting Up Your Container for a Pool

  • Ground and placement: Decide whether the pool will sit above ground, partly sunk or fully buried before you order. It needs a level, compacted base that can carry the weight of the water.
  • Road and truck access: Our tilt-bed trucks need a clear path, room to back up and space clear of wires and branches. Tell us your plan when you request a quote and we will confirm what delivery will work.
  • Reinforcing: Cutting an opening in the steel weakens the walls, which have to carry the water. Have your pool builder or an engineer reinforce the structure.
  • Lining and sealing: Bare steel rusts in water. The inside needs a liner, coating or fibreglass finish designed for pools.
  • Equipment: A pump, filter and heater are installed by a pool professional, and any power near water must be wired by a qualified electrician.
  • Cover and winter: Plan a secure cover from the start, and decide how you will winterize the pool if you live somewhere that freezes.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a container pool?

A container pool is a swimming pool built from a shipping container. The steel box is the shell, set above ground or sunk into the yard, and it is reinforced, lined and sealed by a pool builder, so choose one who has built a container pool before.

Do you build the container pool as well as deliver the container?

We supply and deliver the container. Reinforcing, lining and fitting out the pool is done by a pool builder or contractor you hire.

What size container do I need for a container pool?

A 20ft container suits a plunge pool or a small family pool. A 40ft gives you a pool long enough for a few laps, and a high cube adds water depth. Tell us your plan and we will help you choose.

Does a container pool work in cold climates?

Yes, with the right setup. Plan for freezing weather with your builder, including how the pool is winterized and how the structure handles the ground freezing and thawing.

How long does delivery take?

Most deliveries arrive within 1–3 business days of your order, depending on inventory and site conditions. We confirm the timing when you request a quote.
